The Department of Surgery at UMass Memorial Health and UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a General Surgeon to join our growing team at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, Massachusetts. Health Alliance Hospital is part of UMass Memorial Health's five-hospital system and serves a vital regional role in North Worcester County. This is an exciting opportunity for a surgeon with strong laparoscopic and robotic surgery skills who is interested in developing a regional referral hub for minimally invasive surgery while building a robust general surgery practice. A da Vinci robotic platform is being acquired to support the growth of robotic and minimally invasive surgical services.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient general surgery services
  • Perform a broad range of open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists across UMass Memorial Health
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery 
  • Strong laparoscopic surgical skills required 
  • Robotic surgery experience and interest in program development preferred 
  • Interest in academic medicine, teaching, and mentorship 
  • MD or DO degree and eligible for Massachusetts medical licensure 
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care
