Position Description:

Under minimal supervision, the Senior RF Design Engineer will lead the design and development of advanced RF and microwave components and assemblies for Pasternack and Fairview Microwave product lines. This role involves creating innovative solutions for connectors, adapters, cable assemblies, antennas, and other RF/microwave products that meet stringent performance requirements. The engineer will manage complex projects from concept through production, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to support aggressive growth initiatives.   Additionally, the Senior RF Design Engineer will work closely with customers to define specifications that meet their needs and partner with suppliers to ensure design manufacturability and quality throughout the development process.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development:
    • Develop RF and microwave components (e.g., coaxial connectors, adapters, cable assemblies, attenuators, terminations, antennas) to meet customer and market requirements focusing on innovation.
    • Perform simulations and modeling using industry-standard tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST).
  • Technical Analysis:
    • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
    • Analyze customer requirements and propose feasible, cost-effective solutions.
  • Testing & Validation:
    • Define and execute test plans for RF performance (VSWR, insertion loss, return loss, PIM, etc.).
    • Troubleshoot and resolve design or performance issues.
  • Collaboration:
    • Interfacing and collaborating with customers to define specifications that meet their needs.
    • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and external suppliers to ensure design manufacturability and cost optimization.
    • Provide technical support to sales and application engineering teams.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with RF/microwave industry trends and emerging technologies.
    • Recommend design enhancements and new product opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of RF/microwave design experience, preferably in passive components and assemblies.
  • Proven track record in product development for high-frequency applications (up to 67 GHz or higher).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in RF/microwave theory, transmission lines, impedance matching, and connector design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and RF simulation software (HFSS, ADS, CST).
  • Familiarity with industry standards (MIL-STD, IEC, IEEE).
  • Strong project management and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly communicates with employees and leaders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to move around the warehouse, inspect equipment, and access storage areas.

Reports To: Director Product Development & Engineering


Environment:

Work is performed in both an office setting and a warehouse environment during normal or extended business hours.
