Shipping Supervisor
Position Summary
Sherwood Bedding is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations at our Pennsylvania manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for coordinating outbound shipments, supervising shipping staff, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining on-time delivery to customers and distribution centers.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or high-volume distribution environment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage shipping processes efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily shipping activities for finished mattress products.
Lead and manage shipping team members including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Ensure all orders are picked, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
Coordinate with production, warehouse, and transportation teams to meet shipping deadlines.
Verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping manifests.
Monitor inventory flow and staging areas to maintain organized and efficient operations.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and DOT regulations.
Identify and implement improvements to increase shipping efficiency and reduce errors.
Track shipping performance metrics and report results to operations leadership.
Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or delays in a timely manner.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics supervision within a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing teams in a high-volume production or distribution setting.
Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, freight carriers, and documentation.
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in bedding, furniture, or large product manufacturing.
Forklift certification or experience working in forklift environments.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
