Summary of Position: 

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, this position is responsible for providing assistance with a variety of tasks including document management, inventory management, and vendor support. This position is also responsible for covering shifts at our pharmacies in the event there is a technician with planned or unplanned leave. In this instance, the position is responsible for processing of prescriptions presented or sent to our pharmacy locations, assuring the pharmacy supplies are stocked, maintain organization and cleanliness of workstations, and maintaining confidentiality pertaining to PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPPA guidelines.   

Pharmacy Technician Float Qualifications: 

Minimum: Must have reliable means of travel to any assigned Kintegra Health pharmacy sites. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods. Be able to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel. Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management staff, and external customers. Must be able to work with multiple changing priorities. This position requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills. There must be the ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority to function as part of a team. 

Experience: At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.

Additional skills required: Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have excellent organizational skills.   

Additional skills preferred: Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks. Prior FQHC or public health experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required

Certification(s): National Certification preferred from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); Pharmacy technician registration with North Carolina Board Of Pharmacy (NCBOP)


Pharmacy Technician Float Key Responsibilities 

1. Obtaining information to help fill prescriptions.

2. Counting medications and measuring out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been prescribed by their doctors.

3. Mix and prepare medications. 

4. Package prescriptions for customers, ensuring they are labeled correctly with dosage information.

5. Process retail transactions and handle money.

6. Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.

7. Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.

8. Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.

9. Participate in pharmacy QI initiative.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.
