Job Summary:
The Research Assistant conducts specific research protocols associated with assigned research projects related to health by assisting with screening and assessment of study participants, data collection processes and some basic data analysis. The Research Assistant supports the research unit in activities of recruitment, enrollment and follow-up of study subjects. Assists with research, maintains accurate and timely input of research data, and provides quality management oversight of records. this position reflect the age and culture-specific needs of the English and Spanish-speaking participants.Â
The position is for 32-40 hours per week determined at hire.Â
This position requires full-time, on-site presence in San Luis Obispo County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit and screen participants Â
Assist in the development and adaptation of assessment protocols for English and Spanish speakersÂ
Review assessment documents for accuracy and completenessÂ
Administer and collect measurements from participantsÂ
Maintain accurate and timely input of research data and provide quality management oversight of recordsÂ
Assist in IRB submissionÂ
Assist in ongoing project activitiesÂ
Help with on-boarding student workersÂ
Obtain informed consent from participantsÂ
Schedule and conduct follow-up assessmentsÂ
Schedule team meetings on zoom or in-personÂ
Entering data collection instruments in RedCapÂ
Visually inspect all data for completenessÂ
Conduct clinic-based or at-home assessments, as neededÂ
Travel to San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties to conduct assessmentsÂ
Perform other duties assignedÂ
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree preferredÂ
High school diploma or equivalent requiredÂ
Experience with clinical research desirableÂ
Phlebotomy certification highly preferredÂ
Bilingual Spanish/English requiredÂ
Must be willing and able to travel to research locations within San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara countiesÂ
Willingness to work on some evening or weekends as required.Â
Must possess a valid California driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and vehicle insuranceÂ
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and ExcelÂ
Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R) is preferredÂ
Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and meet time linesÂ
Research Assistant, KinesiologyÂ
Ability to lead others in managing tasks; train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnelÂ
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with othersÂ
Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interface with all levels of staff, Board of Directors, university community, including students, faculty and staff, and the publicÂ
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesyÂ
Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendanceÂ

Hiring Range:
$17.93 - $21.50 an hour
