Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Full Time I First Shift

Heart & Valve Clinic I Lexington, KY

The Heart Valve Clinic provides specialized evaluation, coordination, and management of patients with valvular heart disease. The clinic collaborates with cardiology and cardiothoracic teams to deliver timely, evidence-based care, support treatment planning, and enhance patient outcomes through coordinated, patient-centered services.

Description:

  • Assists provider with all tasks associated with patient care as requested, within their scope of practice and certification.
  • Assists in the efficient flow of patients from the waiting room through their provider visit.
  • Effectively captures data needed to facilitate the provider’s ability to efficiently evaluate patients including but not limited to vital signs and current medications.
  • Handles patient call backs and prescription refills within the scope of certification for this position.
  • Administers medication and injections as directed by the provider.
  • Administers IV therapy as directed by the provider, if within scope of training.
  • Able to perform phlebotomy.
  • Performs EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, and other procedures appropriate to level of training and within the scope of the certifications of this position.
  • Performs in office lab testing such as, glucose testing, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the provider.
  • Stocks rooms and helps monitor supplies as needed.
  • Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations while maintaining patient safety and privacy.

Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical office or clinical experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
