Position Summary

The Child Support Services Office is seeking a Child Support Caseworker I to initiate, review, and maintain accurate paperwork and court documentation on assigned child support cases. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with incoming constituent calls through answering questions, providing proper paperwork and connecting callers with appropriate staff when necessary.

Caseworkers have frequent contact with the public both by telephone and in person through scheduled appointments and walk-ins. The position requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume phone que while providing effective customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Initiate, update, and maintain child support case information in the child support system with a high level of accuracy
  • Refer matters for appropriate action to attorneys or other caseworkers in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and partner agency staff
  • Conduct interviews with individuals to obtain necessary information for effective child support case management
  • Conduct thorough case reviews and searches to determine appropriate actions for assigned cases
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficient office and computer skills, including data entry and document preparation
  • Regular and reliable attendance is mandatory
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and perform duties associated with an office environment

Education

Two (2) years of college coursework preferred.

Experience

Legal support training or coursework preferred.
Experience in family law, child support administration, administrative support, public assistance, or general office work preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment.
