Job DetailsJob Location: Lexington - Lexington, NC 27295Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Bachelor's DegreeTravel Percentage: Up to 25%Job Shift: 1st ShiftJob Category: TechnicianThe Electro-Mechanical Converting Engineer will support our finishing departments in Lexington, as well as our offsite warehouses in NY, IL, and CA. Developing new machines and upgrading technology. The responsibilities will include preventive maintenance, and any needed repairs for our finishing department, in Lexington and offsite warehouses. Participation in the development of new machines and technologies for finishing equipment. Perform testing and validation of existing and new designs Implementation of new machine start-up and training Implement and ensure a preventative maintenance plan is effective and executed correctly in all converting locations Basic local operator training for minor machine repairs Regularly travel to our offsite locations to conduct major and preventative maintenance while ensuring machine and safety features are working properly (Expected travel approx. 35%). Perform emergency repairs on finishing equipment, as needed, on site. Establish and Develop vendors for all converting facilities  Align with our headquarters in Germany Any other related task that may be necessary Skills and Abilities Knowledge of AC Drive set up and PLC knowledge Complete understanding of winding and tension control with thin gauge films using  single and multi-rewind machines Speed and Tension control. Load cells calibrations and how they relate to tension control. Center driven and differential-segmented winding as applicable. Electrical troubleshooting, controls, load cell feedback, and how tension relates to drive operation. Winding control of multi-takeoff finished rolls. Slitting applications, direct, rotary shear. Blade Set up and application. Slitting, troubleshooting, what to do with a poor finished product edge. Willingness to travel abroad Ability to work and solve problems with operators, department managers, supervisors and Quality Management Ability to work well with limited supervision Qualifications Completed Bachelor or Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering/ Engineering technology or comparable suitable education Good knowledge of MS office tools. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred
