Location: Lexington, KY — Onsite

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM until clean desk

Training: Approximately 4–8 weeks, on the job

Training Pay: $16/hour for the first 8 weeks

Production Pay: Piece-rate compensation following training, with unlimited earning potential

About the role

At Conduent, we provide mission-critical services that help organizations deliver better outcomes for the people they serve. Our Lexington team is looking for a Mailroom Associate to support the processing of important healthcare-related documents.

This is a hands-on, production-focused role where accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail matter every day. You’ll work as part of a team processing incoming mail and preparing documents for imaging and downstream processing.

If you enjoy structured work, take pride in doing things correctly, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where productivity and quality are both important, this could be a great opportunity for you.

What you’ll do

As a Mailroom Associate, you’ll help make sure incoming documents are accurately prepared and ready for the next stage of processing.

  • Opening and reviewing incoming mail and removing documents from envelopes.

  • Sorting documents into the appropriate categories according to established business rules and procedures.

  • Identifying documents requiring special handling, including original certificates, notarized documents, checks, photographs, and other designated materials.

  • Preparing documents for imaging and downstream processing.

  • Removing staples, paper clips, sticky notes, folds, and other items that may interfere with processing.

  • Organizing documents to ensure pages are complete, properly arranged, and scanner-ready.

  • Reading and processing English-language claim forms.

  • Using basic computer systems and production equipment.

  • Following written procedures and work instructions consistently.

  • Maintaining established quality and productivity standards.

  • Working with repetitive motions such as handling, sorting, and flipping stacks of documents.

  • Cross-training in other production functions, which may include stack preparation, scanning support, document quality review, and additional mailroom operations.

  • Working through the end of the assigned production day until the unit reaches clean desk, meaning all required work has been completed.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for dependable team members who can balance speed, accuracy, and quality in a production environment.

You should be able to:

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while handling large volumes of documents.

  • Follow detailed written procedures and work instructions.

  • Learn new production systems and processes.

  • Work independently while contributing to a team environment.

  • Stay organized while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

  • Read and type in English, including information contained on English-language claim forms.

  • Sit or stand for extended periods depending on the assigned production task.

  • View a computer screen for extended periods when required.

  • Perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, elbows, and shoulders.

  • Lift and move mail trays weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Work multiple 10–15-hour shifts on your feet when required by business needs.

  • Work a clean-desk schedule and remain until assigned work is completed.

Preferred experience

You may be especially successful in this role if you have experience in:

Previous production experience is helpful, but what matters most is your ability to learn quickly, follow procedures, maintain accuracy, and consistently get the job done.

  • Mailroom operations

  • Warehousing

  • Manufacturing

  • Production environments

  • Handling sensitive or confidential documents

  • Basic computer or equipment troubleshooting

  • Microsoft Word or Excel

What makes this opportunity different?

This isn't simply a traditional mailroom position. You’ll be part of a team supporting the processing of sensitive healthcare information, where the work you do contributes to important client operations.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Learn multiple production functions through cross-training.

  • Build valuable experience in a professional production environment.

  • Develop your skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.

  • Work with a diverse and collaborative team.

  • Contribute ideas that can help improve and streamline processes.

  • Grow your career within Conduent.

Training and getting started

You’ll receive on-the-job training designed to help you learn the processes and become comfortable with the production environment.

Training includes reviewing process documentation, working alongside experienced team members, hands-on practice, and continuous feedback. The expected training period is approximately 4–8 weeks.

A few things you should know

Because this team processes private and confidential healthcare information, maintaining a secure production environment is extremely important.

There is a no-phone and no-bag policy on the production floor. Lockers are available for personal belongings, or items may be secured in your vehicle. Personal phones and bags cannot be brought onto the production floor.

Lunches are unpaid, and employees clock out for their lunch period. Breaks are built into the piece-rate structure and are paid.

The production environment can be fast-paced, and the schedule may occasionally require Saturdays or extended shifts based on business needs. Candidates should be comfortable with these expectations before applying.

Compensation and benefits

This position uses a piece-rate compensation model after the initial training period. Your production pay is based on the amount of work you successfully complete rather than a fixed hourly production rate.

There is no upper limit to your earning potential. As your proficiency and productivity increase, your potential earnings can increase as well.

For the first 8 weeks of training, the minimum pay rate is $16 per hour. Following the training period, the minimum rate is $13 per hour. The minimum rate is a floor—not a cap—and actual earnings may be higher based on productivity and proficiency.

Benefits are available beginning Day 1, including:

  • Health insurance

  • Dental insurance

  • Vision coverage

  • 401(k) and retirement savings options

  • Employer retirement contribution opportunities

  • Life and disability insurance

  • Paid holidays

  • Paid time off (PTO) and/or applicable vacation or sick time

Pay Transparency Laws in some locations require disclosure of compensation and/or benefits-related information. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation and/or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $26,600.00 - $33,250.00.
