Description

We are seeking a skilled and versatile individual to join our team as a Mechanical Technician & Pilot Car Driver. This dynamic role combines light mechanical work, pilot car driving, and truck maintenance responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent driving skills, and a dedication to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Light Mechanical Work:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on trucks and equipment, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs under the supervision of a certified mechanic.
  • Assist in the installation of new parts and components as needed.

Pilot Car Driving:

  • Safely operate a pilot car to escort oversized loads, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintain constant communication with the truck driver to anticipate and navigate potential obstacles or hazards along the route.
  • Provide support during loading and unloading processes, ensuring the safe transport of oversized cargo.

Truck Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of trucks and trailers to identify any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Perform basic repairs and adjustments to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including scheduled service intervals and repairs completed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical fields preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required depending on the nature of the role.
  • Proven experience in light mechanical work, including basic automotive repairs and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with pilot car operations and regulations is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all aspects of the job.
