Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities. Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

  • Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
  • Monitors and records vital signsAssists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needsAccurately measures, records, and reports intake and outputObtains and records daily weightPerforms blood glucose testing using blood glucose meterReports changes in patient’s status promptly to RNPerforms as patient care companion when neededAssists in the admission, transfer and discharge processPerforms unit housekeeping needsActs as a runner/transporter
  • Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel
  • Updates assigned bed status
  • Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and alerting the correct person
  • Keeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, no food or drink at the workstation, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
  • 1-3 years One (1) year direct patient care experience
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
