Imaging - Radiological Technologist

Job Description:
The Radiologic Technologist provides diagnostic imaging services using radiographic and fluoroscopic technology to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. This role performs imaging procedures, image processing, and related techniques to produce high-quality images for interpretation by a radiologist or licensed independent practitioner. The Radiologic Technologist applies professional judgment, upholds high ethical standards, and adapts to varying patient conditions to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality exams.
- Executes ionizing radiation to patients to take x-ray images in the safest manner possible.
- Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients daily.
- Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
- Provides directions to patients regarding radiologic exams. Provides education to patients regarding their ordered exams.
- Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment after each exam.
- Maintains adequate and proper records.
- Prepares barium and other chemical mixtures for x-rays.
- Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
- Will assume other duties applicable to the operation of the Radiology Department as needed. Demonstrates flexibility of working hours to assure 24-hour departmental coverage, which may include on-call duty.
- Must maintain current BLS.
Essential Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Current Radiation Operators Certification with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources
- BLS required.
