Overview

Product & Engineering Finance is looking for a Sr. Infrastructure & Cloud Spend Manager to own end-to-end financial visibility and accountability for cloud and infrastructure spend. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Procurement to strengthen forecasting discipline, drive cost optimization, and inform strategic decisions. Cloud and infrastructure spend represents one of Mimecast’s most significant and fastest-growing cost lines. This is a highly visible individual contributor role reporting to the VP, Product Finance & Corporate Development and based in our Lexington, MA office (hybrid onsite schedule). You’ll have the opportunity to build scalable infrastructure cost-management capabilities in a PE-backed environment focused on growth and margin performance.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the primary Finance owner for cloud and infrastructure spend—including AWS, Azure, GCP, data centers, and colocation—across the business.

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive cost taxonomy that maps spend to products, teams, and business units, establishing a clear reporting baseline within your first 90 days.

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting for cloud and infrastructure spend, connecting usage trends with the product roadmap, customer growth, and Engineering capacity plans.

  • Support annual budgeting and long-range planning for infrastructure cost lines, delivering clear and actionable variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.

  • Identify, quantify, and drive cost-optimization opportunities, including reserved instances, savings plans, rightsizing, and architecture changes, in partnership with Engineering.

  • Evaluate vendor contracts and commitments and support negotiations with data-driven cost and usage analysis.

  • Champion FinOps best practices and tooling while building dashboards and self-service analytics that provide Finance, Engineering, and executive leaders with visibility into cloud spend and unit economics.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Engineering leadership on the financial implications of architecture and infrastructure decisions, presenting findings and recommendations to senior Finance and business leaders.

  • Develop a rolling infrastructure spend forecast adopted by Engineering and Finance leadership within six months, and drive measurable cost savings and a mature FinOps reporting cadence within the first year.

  • Contribute to the broader Product & Engineering Finance team’s goals around cost discipline and EBITDA impact.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated expertise in FP&A, cost and financial analysis, or FinOps, with the proficiency and autonomy to own complex infrastructure spend in a SaaS or cloud-native technology environment.

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure cost drivers and pricing models across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with the ability to analyze large, complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent communication and business-partnership skills, including the ability to turn technical cost drivers into clear financial narratives for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with FinOps tooling such as CloudHealth, Cloudability, Kubecost, or native cloud cost-management tools is preferred.

  • SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with Snowflake or a similar data platform is preferred.

  • Experience operating in a PE-backed or high-growth environment with an emphasis on EBITDA-focused cost management is preferred.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or willingness to obtain it, is preferred.

The base salary range for this position is 132,000 - 198,000 USD plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations.
