Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) at Saginaw Valley State University invites a diverse pool of applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin July 1, 2026.  The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses for the Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Engineering majors, as well as in the Master of Science in CSIS program.  Participation in departmental, college, and university service, as well as the development of an active research program involving undergraduate and/or graduate student researchers, is expected.

Faculty in the Department of CSIS are actively engaged, both in and out of the classroom, in preparing students for rapidly evolving high-demand careers.  They regularly publish in prestigious journals and present at conferences such as IEEE and ACM.  CSIS faculty also advise student organizations involved in a range of activities, including ACM, Google IgniteCS, Hour of Code, and Girls Who Code.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. or ABD in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge and experience in areas such as Advanced Java programming, SQL database, Python, AI, data science, and web application development.  Strong programming skills and experience with undergraduate teaching is highly desirable.  Experience in cybersecurity and/or system administration will be a plus.
