Job Overview
The Research Systems Lead, University Information Services, Georgetown University, will contribute to the ongoing strategic direction of Research Technologies and its service portfolio. This position will work with key stakeholders and leadership to identify business needs and develop, deliver, and support advanced technology solutions to meet these needs. The Lead will oversee the day-to-day support and improvement of existing systems within the Research Technologies portfolio, including GU-PASS, IRB, IACUC, Grants Management, Financial Conflict of Interest, and CV/Publication management.
GU-PASS is a cloud-based system that hosts applications supporting one of Georgetown University’s primary missions of faculty research. These applications primarily support the research offices across all campuses in their external grant proposal administration and sub-award tracking. GU-PASS also hosts various other applications such as Internal Research Funding and Financial Conflict of Interest Disclosures that allow faculty and staff to comply with regulatory and compliance requirements. The goals for GU-PASS are to provide an easy interface and workflow for research grant administration, a better user experience for faculty and staff, and a holistic data architecture that integrates with other applications to better support University-wide reporting.
Duties include but are not limited to supporting the following:
Contributing to the strategic planning for the Research Technologies service portfolio.
Managing the daily operations, support, and enhancement of the GU-PASS system and other research applications.
Collaborating with the research community and leadership to analyze business processes and identify technology solutions.
Leading system development efforts and ensuring the quality of final products.
Serving as a technical expert and relationship manager for the research community.
Work Interactions
The Research Systems Lead reports to the Director of Workday Reporting & Integrations within the University Information Services (UIS). Due to the broad cross-organizational base of the research community at Georgetown, this position has routine interaction with stakeholders from a wide variety of highly specialized fields, including faculty, research administrators, and university leadership. A thorough understanding of business drivers across the organization is critical. The incumbent will work closely with other teams within University Information Services to deliver and support solutions. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
5-8 years of experience in IT, with significant experience in application management, business analysis, and project management.
Direct experience with low-code/no-code development platforms, preferably Mendix.
Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels of an organization.
Strong understanding of business process analysis and redesign.
Excellent project management and communication skills.
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience supporting research administration systems (e.g., Grants Management, IRB, IACUC, Conflict of Interest).
Experience in a higher education or research-intensive environment.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$80,429.00 - $157,238.93Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
