Examples of Work Performed
- Design and conduct analytical chemistry experiments using soft materials characterization techniques that may include mass spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry, isothermal titration calorimetry, rheometry, and dynamic light scattering.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain complex analytical instruments to ensure consistent and accurate experimental results.
- Induct and train new users to correctly and safely use the instrumentation.
- Develop and document new analytical methodologies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory users.
- Deliver informal seminars and workshops to stakeholders within the state to raise awareness and educate potential users in both academic and industrial settings.
- Travel regularly to different institutions within the state to perform the duties listed above.
- Collaborate with the Mississippi Research Alliance leadership for the further development of this program.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other Regional Instrumentation Technicians throughout the state.
- Work with interdisciplinary collaborators across departments and institutions to support initiatives such as Mississippi INBRE and the Nano-Bio Immunoengineering Consortium (NIEC) and other such statewide projects.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Job Responsibilities:
This requires a PhD of engineering, chemistry, materials science, or other related discipline and two years of related experience OR ten years of related experience.
