Job Description

Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) in the Operating Room (OR) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role supports the OR team in ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment, focusing on patient comfort, safety, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including ambulation, transfers, and personal hygiene, pre- and post-operatively.

• Prepares operating rooms for surgical procedures, including stocking supplies, setting up equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and sterility.

• Transports patients to and from the OR, ensuring their safety and comfort.

• Assists the surgical team with positioning patients, applying dressings, and other tasks as directed by the registered nurse or surgeon.

Required Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age

• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics

• Bilingual English/Spanish

• Two years of hospital experience
