Job DetailsJob Location: Liberty, SC 29657Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolJob Shift: 3rdJob Category: Manufacturing JOB SUMMARY The Coordinate Measurement Machine Technician position is responsible for performing inspections on production product, incoming inspection parts, tooling, and Engineering prototypes using customer, supplier or company supplied drawings and ensures the machine provides appropriate output. This person will also perform basic machine maintenance and upkeep. CMM experience is preferred for this role. Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager Essential Functions: Measure and complete part inspections on Engineering projects, tooling, and production parts. Responsible for daily upkeep of CMM equipment and accessories. Responsible for reporting any damage or failure of the machinery. Ensure CMM equipment is properly calibrated Ensures appropriate outputs and Report’s inspection results to the correct departments or individuals. Develop, maintain, and generate CMM programs used to inspect and verify production assemblies, incoming parts, tooling, and prototypes. Review any specifications to establish correct inspection criteria. Ability to document all required measurements on a First Article form including bubble print and organize information for easy retrieval at a moment’s notice. Organized and can communicate measurements found out of spec to appropriate coworkers. High attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Document all work completed in a simple but easy to read format. Ensure all documentation is updated when engineering makes changes Coordinate surface plate inspections and hand-held gage setup/calibration as required. Investigate instances of mismeasurement – identify, research, analyze and report measurement problems. Understands, implements, and maintains the company’s quality policy through the performance of all duties and responsibilities to ensure accuracy. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Perform other inspections as directed within the Quality department. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills/Abilities: High School Diploma or GED Minimum 1 year experience of GD&T training preferred. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, data, reports, instructions, and guidelines. Proficient in computer operations and applications in a MS Windows operating system (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) Previous experience in an automotive quality metrology lab or other highly regulated manufacturing lab required Fixturing experience. Programming experience. Practical knowledge using MCOSMOS software and CAD Understanding of GD&T application. Strong math skills. Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D drawings. Requires thorough knowledge of inspection principles Familiarity with machining processes and machine shop practices Familiarity of other measuring devices (calipers, depth gage, height gage, Dial indicators, Micrometers, Optical Comparator) Able to work well with others and build positive employee relations. Physical Requirements: Periods of working on a computer. Occasionally required to sit, balance, and bend. Employee may frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
