Position Summary / Career Interest:

Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager, the Sterile Processing Technician processes the instrumentation utilized in the operating room and ancillary areas according to regulatory standards and appropriate internal standards. The role provides and customer-focused service to all Health System team members, leadership and medical staff and to the patients/visitors.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Decontaminates, assembles and sterilizes instrumentation according to national guidelines and internal standards.
  • Operates departmental equipment within appropriate guidelines/policies/procedures.
  • Demonstrates high levels of quality control by following departmental policies/procedures and thorough documentation of sterilization process.
  • Effectively prioritizes and communicates customer needs within the department and with customers.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Understands and identifies instrumentation and equipment utilized in all customer areas.
  • Performs other assigned duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager related to Sterile Processing.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technologist experience or current enrollment or completion of a Sterile Processing Certification program

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 1 or more years experience as Sterile Processing Technician

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) (DO NOT USE) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) within 1 Year

Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician(CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) upon Hire
