This role provides both onsite and remote compliance assistance to communities participating in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), HOME, and Housing Trust Fund (HTF) programs.

As a Roving Compliance Associate, you'll partner closely with Property Managers, applicants, residents, and the Compliance team to ensure regulatory compliance, maintain high-quality resident files, and support successful audits. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, training others, and traveling to support multiple communities.

What You'll Do

  • Assist Property Managers and applicants with the affordable housing certification process.
  • Explain program requirements and collect required income and eligibility documentation.
  • Complete and review initial, annual, and interim certifications.
  • Verify household income, assets, and program eligibility.
  • Review resident files for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate file corrections and documentation needs with onsite staff.
  • Ensure certifications are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Provide onsite compliance support during lease-ups, acquisitions, staffing transitions, and other high-volume periods.
  • Mentor and train Property Managers and onsite teams on LIHTC, HOME, and HTF compliance requirements and certification procedures.
  • Conduct quality control reviews and internal file audits.
  • Assist with preparation for agency, syndicator, lender, and investor audits.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical resident files.
  • Research regulatory updates and communicate compliance changes to the team.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Department to develop and maintain standardized procedures and best practices across the portfolio.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with affordable housing compliance, preferably in LIHTC, HOME, and/or HTF programs.
  • Strong understanding of income calculations, asset verification, and eligibility requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state affordable housing regulations.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to educate and support onsite teams.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management/compliance software is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Travel Requirements

This position requires regular travel to communities throughout our portfolio to provide onsite compliance support. Travel is primarily regional, and employees typically return home each evening. A company vehicle is available for business-related travel.
