Billing Specialist
Position Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing processes, school bus contract billing, and charter services. This role ensures accurate and timely financial transactions while maintaining compliance with company policies. This position requires strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Prepare and process billing for school bus contracts, charter services, and other transportation operations
· Generate and distribute invoices to school districts and charter customers in a timely manner
· Track and follow up on outstanding invoices and past due accounts
· Maintain and update billing templates and rate schedules as contracts change
· Assist with fuel surcharge calculations and billing
· Review driver tickets and route logs to ensure all billable activity is captured
· Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for auditing and compliance purposes
· Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting
· Respond to billing inquiries from internal staff and customers
· Assist with other finance and administrative functions as directed by management
Education, Experience and Skills:
· Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
· 2–4 years of experience in accounting, billing, or accounts receivable
· Experience with transportation billing preferred
· Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
