SUMMARY:   Persons employed in this position are primarily, but not limited to, involved in assisting the project team by design of components and assemblies, identification of materials and manufacturing methods for components, and preparation and maintenance of documentation related to components and assemblies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design components and assemblies using CAD software. 
  • Create component and assembly drawings in the Company format for components, perform revisions as necessary, assign numbers to changes and prepare packages for approval. 
  • Work with the Manufacturing, and Engineers to implement all requirements on drawings, and support development of control plans. 
  • Assist Mechanical Engineers in design for manufacturing and overall good design practices. 
  • Perform tolerance stack analysis of assemblies, analyze process capability (CPK) data for components and assemblies to resolve issues with tolerance stack ups provide input to the Mechanical Design Engineer on changes and improvements to resolve tolerances stack up issues. 
  • Work with the Engineers to develop accurate cost models for projects, and review vendor quotations to ensure requirements are met. 
  • Support design of measurement fixtures, assembly fixtures, and test fixtures as necessary to ensure project timelines are met. 
  • Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, potentially working in more than one team at the same time with competing priorities.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 semesters in Computer Aided Design Drafting program or equivalent and actively enrolled in the program.
