PVH employment application required. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and pre-employment physical. This is a full-time (30 hours per week), hourly, non-exempt, non-union position.  


This person supports Senior Leadership to implement development goals including fundraising, grant writing, community engagement, and marketing. The position has primary responsibility for print materials, maintaining online content, assisting with data collection for grants and annual reports, and engagement with community. Other administrative tasks such as answering phones, coordinating and preparing for meetings, interacting with the public, or representing PVH may be required as needed. 



JOB FUNCTIONS

Fundraising and Development

  • With Senior Leadership develop and implement annual fundraising plans to provide support for hospital operations.
  • Coordinates fundraising campaigns (including annual direct mail appeals) and special events to secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations/businesses
  • Supports, solicits, thanks, and engages donors to meet fundraising goals; assists with stewardship of major donors, planned giving, and foundation relationships
  • Manages donor database; creates and generates acknowledgements, receipts and thank you notes in a timely manner
  • Serves as primary point of contact for donors and supporter inquiries
  • Maintains grant files, including potential funder info and grant applications submitted
  • Assists with grants management, including: researching potential sources of grant funding, writing letters of intent and grant applications, and maintaining schedules for private foundation grant applications, reports, and renewals

Marketing and Communications

  • Coordinates and designs online and print communications for the hospital, including newspaper articles, marketing materials needed, annual report, social media, and website content
  • Maintains donor database or mailing lists and designs strategies to reach/engage different audiences
  • Assists with internal communication to employees, patients, or community as needed.

Administrative and Community Engagement

  • Interacts with employees, leadership, board members, and general public, in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner; models respect and encourages culture of philanthropy
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and donor information
  • Utilizes fundraising and marketing data to monitor and report on campaigns and results
  • Represents the hospital at community events as requested and appropriate.
  • Assists with compilation of data into reports and dashboards for use in grant applications or grant reporting and development or marketing efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Quality Improvement:  Actively participates in the Hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program, actively supports and implements Department-specific Quality improvement initiatives and projects, recommends process improvement as appropriate, reports any quality issues in service delivery and consistently commits to a focus on quality improvement and organizational excellence.


Emergency Management:  As an employee of Penobscot Valley Hospital, the position has an inherent role to care for our community members when in need. To this regard, the incumbent will be expected to participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and drills as requested. When called upon during a real life disaster/emergency event, the incumbent will be expected to participate in the Hospital’s response to this event, within the scope of professional and personal ability to do so.


Requirements

  •  Business Management or related degree – AS or higher
  • 2yrs grant writing, development, and communication experience
  • Office experience in a healthcare setting
  • Marketing experience with design, layout, website management, and similar tools
  • Donor database management
  • Project Management experience
  • Graphic design, photography, 
  • Training in fundraising, marketing, or development
