Forklift Driver

WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE:

Under the supervision of the Pressroom Supervisor, this position supports hand pressing and Models and Mold department in all areas of loading and unloading material; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Responsible for inspecting the forklift daily and completing the designated checklist, reporting any issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently throughout the plant and warehouse
  • Ensure all supplies are stocked for the day, including pallets of clay, board pallets, hoppers, and high boards.
  • Navigating confined spaces with height restrictions repeatedly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dry floor, working collaboratively with the Glaze line forklift driver.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings, pedestrians, equipment, racks, molds, and other potential hazards.
  • Update the rack board whenever racks are added or removed.
  • Arrange racks by date whenever possible, using the appropriate day-of-week or oldest-date-first organization.
  • Organize molds inside the warehouse by job.
  • When putting pots away, communicate with the appropriate team members so pots can be placed upstairs and pot molds can be moved into the elevator.
  • Support the Models & Molds department as needed (i.e Empty hoppers, water tubs, supply clay, add or remove mold).
  • Maintain communication with production personnel regarding material, molds, racks, and other items needed to keep production moving.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Safely navigate confined spaces and areas with height restrictions.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have minimum 1-year experience in operating a sit-down forklift.
  • On-the-job training required to be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Basic reading and writing abilities.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to make sound and reasonable decisions.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Frequently required to use hands for handling, fingering, or feeling; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen; and stand, walk, or sit.
  • Regularly required to bend at the waist and lift or move up-to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist and lift or move 50-100 pounds.
