KFI employees support adults with disabilities to be active, contributing, and valued members of their communities. We are currently seeking energetic, creative and compassionate applicants to support Russel.

I am a 30-year-old man, who lives with a roommate in Lincoln. I am looking for a new support staff who is creative and can motivate me to try new things. I love engines, old cars, video games, and heavy equipment/machinery. I love to collect things. I like to go to the pawn shop to make a purchase or to look at the old coins. I love to learn and explore different things on the Internet and watch YouTube.

Most of my life, people have told me what to do rather than including me in decisions about my own life. Don’t lecture me, talk to me. I need staff who will listen to me because I want to be heard and respected. Be positive with me when I get frustrated. If you are patient and listen to me without judgement, I won’t shut down and I will share my feelings.

I do need reminders around boundaries, a gentle reminder is all I need. Giving me praise makes me feel appreciated. I like to help people out but may need a nudge. Let’s explore volunteering. I need support with household tasks and budgeting. These are not my favorite things to be responsible for but help me to understand their importance and support me to follow through with these tasks. Maybe you can lend a hand and we will work on tasks together. I have never had much control over my money so sometimes, I need to talk about my shared responsibilities as a roommate.

KFI is looking for staff to cover a 56 hour shift, Thursday 11p - Sunday 7a.

Salary Description

$18.88 - $19.67 per hour

•  High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Valid Maine Driver’s License (Required)
• A Registered and Insured Vehicle (Required)
• Evening and weekend availability
