POSITION SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains trailer and/or refrigeration equipment
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Receives and carries out instructions
* Services/inspects trailers and/or refrigeration units and determines defects and potential problems
* Knowledge of air brakes, electrical and suspension systems
* Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems and changes brakes, seals, and bearings
* Performs minor body repair
* Maintains regular and predictable attendance
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Knowledge of all aspects of trailer repair
* Excellent mechanical repair skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to visually diagnose trailer issues
* Ability to read service and repair manuals
* Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
* Ability to read work orders
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
* Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
* Must be able to inspect trailer to determine repairs needed
* Good vision to inspect repair work
* Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
Forklift Certification
EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 mobile refrigeration as required by supervisor and/or location
Valid Driver's License as required by supervisor and/or location
OTHER
Must have own tools
Safety shoes (steel toe or composite) required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts,
fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or extreme heat and excessive noise levels.
