Houlton, Maine | Full-Time

S.W. Collins Company is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and customer-focused Yard Hand to join our Houlton team. Our yard team plays an important role in keeping materials organized, customers taken care of, and our operation running safely and efficiently.
This is an active, hands-on position that is a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, working with building materials, and being part of a team. If you take pride in a job well done and enjoy helping customers, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Load lumber, building materials, and other products for customers and deliveries.
- Assist contractors and homeowners with loading materials safely and efficiently.
- Receive, unload, organize, and stock incoming materials.
- Stage materials for customer pickup and delivery.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked lumberyard.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely, following company procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and keeping products properly identified and stored.
- Help customers locate and select materials throughout the yard.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, sales associates, and other members of the S.W. Collins team.
- Provide the legendary customer service our customers have come to expect from S.W. Collins.
- Work as part of a team to keep the yard, warehouse, and delivery operation running smoothly.
What We're Looking For

- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to safely lift and handle lumber and building materials.
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other equipment safely.
- Someone who takes pride in keeping their work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to the team.
- Previous lumberyard, construction, warehouse, or building-materials experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
