About the Role:

As a Sign Language Interpreter with Point Quest Group, you'll play a vital role in ensuring equitable access to education for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You’ll facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers across academic and social settings, helping students fully engage in their school experience. This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled, culturally aware, and passionate about inclusion — because every student deserves to be heard and understood.

What You'll Do:

· Provide accurate, real-time interpretation services (e.g., ASL, Signed English) for students in classroom instruction, small groups, assemblies, and school events

· Adapt communication methods to match each student’s language needs, preferences, and IEP accommodations

· Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure instructional content is accessible and delivered effectively

· Support student independence by facilitating communication without altering the content or intent of the message

· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice

· Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insight on communication access and student progress

· Prepare for instructional content by reviewing materials in advance to ensure accurate and effective interpretation

· Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families to support a collaborative and inclusive school environment

 

What We're Looking For:

 

Must Have

• Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of Missouri (e.g., Missouri Interpreter Certification System (MICS) or equivalent)

• EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score meeting Missouri state requirements (typically 3.5 or higher)

• Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance)

• Eligibility to work in the United States

 

Preferred

• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification

• Prior experience interpreting in a K–12 school setting

• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational interpreting best practices

• Experience working with students with diverse learning and communication needs
