Mercy Ships is a global faith-based charity that uses hospital ships to bring life-changing surgeries and transformational medical training to people in some of the most challenging contexts along the African coast. The Mailroom Clerk handles bank-related courier services, post office delivery and mail pick-up, shipment processing, and fulfillment responsibilities as directed by the Logistics Manager.
Compensation range for this position is $16-$18.72/hour
This is a full time, onsite position located at our office in Lindale, Texas
How You鈥檒l Contribute
- Maintain operational hours (M-F 8am-4pm) for mail/package drop off at the Mail Room.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Deliver and pick up all mail at Lindale Post office, as directed (including all post office boxes).
- Deliver locked bank deposits and other business as needed.
- Log in packages聽and mail for ship, pack, and send.
- Sort all mail (minus donor gifts) for delivery to ship or International Support Center.
- Coordinate outgoing mail, FedEx, UPS shipments for departmental and personal shipments and DHL for crew mail shipments.
- Select appropriate shipping methods to optimize cost and delivery time.
- Track shipments and communicate all issues to Logistics manager. 路 Maintain inventory of shipping supplies,
- Vet all items going to a Mercy Ships vessel to ensure that no prohibited items are shipped.
- Distribute internal mail.
- Order supplies as needed.
- Balance cash box (monthly) for Mailroom.
- Maintains alignment and upholds Mercy Ships Core Values, Code of Conduct, and follows the policies and procedures published on Compass.

The Ideal Candidate
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office with willingness and ability to learn inventory management software system.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values.
- Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability.

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or its equivalent required.
- Prior experience in warehouse environment is preferred.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
- Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
