Position General Summary:
This position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Tech will be responsible for operating and repairing Hospital heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems and performing mechanical, carpentry and painting duties under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Operations.
Some of their responsibilities include:
- Maintains and/or repairs boilers, generators, and A/C systems; kitchen equipment; general plumbing; carpentry; sheetrock; painting.
- Door hardware maintenance including re-keying locks and changing entry codes in automatic doors.
- Completes monthly preventative maintenance duties on schedule.
- Mechanically repairs, replaces, modifies, or installs the following: motors, bearings, seals, shafts, gears, housings, dampers, switches, and controls.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment wiring, switches, circuit breakers, disconnects, and associated components.
- Replaces lights, ballasts, fixtures, photocells, belts, and filters.
- Maintains vehicles if required.
- Maintains oxygen, vacuum, and distribution systems as directed.
- Participates in department training, standardization, and quality control programs.
- Maintains security for hospital and grounds.
- Keeps snow and ice off sidewalks by shoveling or salting.
- Helps unload supply trucks when necessary.
- Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Complies with OSHA regulations in use of tools, test equipment, electrical, and work areas.
Facility General Responsibilities:
- Attend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HR
- Complete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire date
- Complete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire date
- Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
- Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds
- Follow HIPAA regulations at all times
- Be punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
- Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility
- Identifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID bracelet
- Follows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and procedures
- Must interact with physicians, guest, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively
- Must be able to pass drug screens, both pre-employment and throughout the duration of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience dealing with people. Security-related experience preferred. Experience in healthcare organization operations is desirable. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position requires some overtime and the ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Ability to plan and organize.
Position Requirements: Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Certifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent required. Additional technical and engineering training education preferred.
Working Conditions:
The ability to think and work independently and with direction, experience communicating with other staff in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment is needed.
