Service Technician in Training
The Service Technician helps homeowners and builders by installing new automatic swimming pool covers and finding and fixing problems on automatic swimming pool covers that are not working the way they are supposed to. They also give price estimates and help customers understand how the equipment works.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gives price estimates to homeowners and builders.
  • Loads and unloads tools and materials from trucks.
  • Checks what work needs to be done before each appointment.
  • Delivers, installs, upgrades, cleans, takes apart, and repairs pool covers and their parts.
  • Tests equipment to find problems.
  • Cleans the work area after finishing each job.
  • Writes down details about all installations and repairs.
  • Shows customers how to use and take care of their pool cover equipment.
  • Explains the cost of parts and labor to customers.
  • Keeps tools and equipment in good condition.
  • Keeps replacement parts stocked in the service truck.
  • Keeps the service truck clean and reports when it needs maintenance.
  • Does all work in a way that shows good quality service and clear communication with customers.
  • Learns everything necessary to train a new Technician In-training in 12 months.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Skills and Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to learn how to install and repair pool covers.
  • Problem-solving skills to figure out what is wrong with system/equipment.
  • Good time management to be on time and stay on schedule.
  • Attention to detail to notice problems and write accurate reports.
  • Organization skills to keep tools and paperwork in order.
  • Basic computer and technical skills to understand the equipment.
  • Mechanical skills and understanding of how parts fit together.
  • Good speaking and writing skills to understand customers’ problems and explain solutions clearly and professionally.
  • For safe and effective job performance, you must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to work safely and do quality work (read job notes, schedules, part descriptions, and instructions in English)
  • Must be able to safely use protective gear, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Must be able to work safely around water deeper than 7 feet.
  • Must be able to notice and avoid hazards at work and work safely.
  • Must wear the company uniform.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle small parts (like screws) and also move larger items such as pool covers, motors, and boxes.
  • If driving is required, must drive safely and keep a driving record that meets company standards. Must not drive or work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.



Work Environment

  • Most work is done outside in different weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Work areas may be wet or slippery.
  • Some work is done at construction sites where noise can be loud.
  • Some work may be done in a warehouse.
