Position Summary

The Shipping and Logistics Specialist is responsible for executing day-to-day shipping, receiving, and inventory operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant movement of goods. This role supports domestic and international shipments—including parcel (e.g., FedEx), LTL, and freight forwarding—while maintaining inventory integrity and safe warehouse operations. The position reports to the Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory Manager and collaborates cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and customer support teams.


Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and ship domestic and international orders via parcel, LTL, and freight forwarders

• Generate shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, export paperwork)

• Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, including hazardous materials and battery shipping requirements (e.g., lithium-ion)

• Coordinate pickups, track shipments, and proactively resolve delivery issues or delays

• Receive incoming materials, verify accuracy against purchase orders, and record receipts in inventory system

• Perform inventory transactions, cycle counts, and reconciliation to maintain high inventory accuracy

• Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks

• Package products to meet carrier requirements and ensure safe transit

• Maintain organized shipping/receiving areas and adhere to safety standards

• Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to support smooth logistics operations


Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field

• Experience with parcel shipping systems (e.g., FedEx, UPS), LTL, and freight forwarding

• Familiarity with international shipping and export documentation

• Experience handling hazardous materials or battery shipments preferred

• Working knowledge of inventory management systems (ERP/WMS)

• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 50 lbs.)

• Effective communication and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications

• Hazmat certification for shipping regulated materials

• Experience with cycle counting and inventory audits

• Knowledge of import/export compliance and Incoterms
