Position Overview

As International continues to innovate and update our product line driven by trends such as electrification, autonomy, and connectivity, we are looking for a bright, talented, and experienced Program Chief Engineer that enjoys working with cross-functional teams and is passionate about implementing new designs and systems in Navistar vehicles to continue to improve customer satisfaction and vehicle performance.

The Program Chief Engineer works within the cross-functional program team to ensure engineering designs deliver the cost and quality targets of the program.

 

Position Purpose and Requirements:

Manage the development and implementation process of the company's products and services. Leads a cross-functional team of experts working on related projects by managing the projects in a coordinated way to obtain benefits and control not available by managing them individually. Focuses on project interdependencies and helps to determine the optimal approach for managing them. Customer point of contact. Managers cost, schedule and performance. Maintains continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives. Builds credibility and rapport with the stakeholders at multiple levels internal and external. Ensures the ultimate success of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and Leading Powertrain Integration activities for the 2027/2030+ EPA Next Gen_X15 Engine, Next Gen _X10
  • Engine, Next Gen B7.2 and Euro VI in our LT/HX and HV, MV application respectively
  • Coordinate new Powertrain Initiatives from ND/RI/PI/TF/ SP/SD/PRY/SOP/EP Milestones
  • Coordinate engineering effort through the various phases of assigned program(s)
  • Plan engineering development activities to meet the program needs
  • Develop and maintain engineering development budget
  • Act as key engineering representative assigned to program team
  • Ensure engineering activity meets program Cost, Quality and Delivery goals
  • Report status of design activities and issues to engineering leadership
  • Ensure product is fully validated and meets performance objectives
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop vehicle-level solutions

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 11 years of product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 9 years of product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 7 years of product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

Core Systems Knowledge:

  •  Deep understanding of internal combustion engines, Aftertreatment System, Transmission, Electric Drives, and hybrid architecture.

Structured Problem-Solving Processes

Cross-Functional Communication:

  • Skill in bridging gaps between calibration, controls, manufacturing, and executive teams.

Regulatory & Compliance Strategy:

  • Thorough understanding of global emissions, fuel economy standards, and safety mandates.
