Location: Lisle

Hours:Full-Time. 40 hours per week. .

Program development and coordination of services for  Retail Pharmacy, Physician Dispensing and Infusion Therapy Mixing Areas.  Responsible for safely filling and dispensing prescriptions in the Retail Pharmacy and Infusion Mixing Room.  Responsible for supervising Pharmacy Technicians.


Responsibilities

  • Obtains and maintains credentialing and licensure for all DuPage Medical Group pharmacy sites.
  • Develop policy and procedure related to pharmaceuticals and reimbursement; business and personnel management
  • Responsible for profit and loss of the retail pharmacy and other initiatives
  • Responsible for identifying future pharmaceutical business opportunities throughout DuPage Medical Group.
  • Fills and dispenses prescriptions ordered by physicians and midlevel providers
  • Compounds prescribed medications and chemotherapy
  • Maintains appropriate prescription record for each patient with required documentation.  Monitors drug therapy periodically by evaluating  patient medical history for significant drug interaction, adverse reaction, therapeutic drug dosages, and compliance with prescription orders
  • Provides counseling and drug education to patients and families including information on drug interactions.  Participates in staff education via inservice presentations, medical literature searches, and individual counseling.
  • Participates in inventory control including purchasing, receiving and stocking medication and pharmacy supplies.
  • Complies with governmental and other regulations related to preparation, packaging and storage of products
  • Contacts physicians and benefits providers as necessary to process a prescription
  • Complete third-party insurances forms and other required paper work
  • Show ability to create and utilize cost-benefit analysis and offer therapeutic alternative selections to providers when appropriate
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy regulations
  • Maintains Patient confidentiality and maintains HIPAA standards at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by department

Supervision of Pharmacy technicians


Qualifications

  • Disease states, therapeutic use of drugs, clinically significant drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions and their interrelatedness.
  • Knowledge of drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalent, and storage requirements.
  • Basic pharmacy compounding and dispensing
  • Inventory control procedures and practices
  • State laws and regulations regarding practice of pharmacy
  • Knowledge of third-party reimbursement programs and requirements
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirement related to dispensary and infusion area
  • Knowledge of USP 797  clean room standards

             Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other regulatory policies and requirements
                      

  • Pharm D preferred
  • Current Illinois State Pharmacy License

 

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $107,000-161,000, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
