Position Overview

The Procurement organization supports International Motors by developing and executing supplier strategies that deliver the right balance of Technology, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Sustainability. This role will support the Powertrain Procurement team and will be responsible for the Cummins Engine, Aftertreatment, and Filtration categories, representing approximately $1.1B in annual spend.The Senior Procurement Consultant will be accountable for supplier strategy, sourcing execution, commercial negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier performance across a highly strategic supply base. This role will also coordinate strategies across TRATON brands, including MAN, SCANIA, and VW Truck & Bus, to identify synergies, align commercial approaches, and support broader enterprise objectives.

Location:  Lisle Headquarters. This is a local position (Onsite) Monday-Thursday, (Work from Home) Friday

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies for Cummins Engine, Aftertreatment, and Filtration categories aligned with International Motors and TRATON business objectives.
  • Manage a strategic supply base with approximately $1.1B in annual spend, including sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, contract execution, and supplier performance management.
  • Lead commercial negotiations related to pricing, cost reduction, tariffs, supply continuity, new product launches, service parts, and contractual agreements.
  • Coordinate sourcing and supplier strategies across TRATON brands, including MAN, SCANIA, and VW Truck & Bus, to support alignment and value creation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, Aftersales, Supply Chain, and Risk Management.
  • Analyze spend, cost structures, market conditions, benchmark data, and supplier proposals to develop fact-based recommendations.
  • Build executive-level business cases, presentations, and sourcing recommendations to support leadership reviews and decision-making.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, launch readiness, responsiveness, service support, and continuity of supply.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, localization, dual sourcing, footprint optimization, and improved total cost performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

  • Master's degree and at least 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

OR

  • At least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management within automotive, commercial vehicle, manufacturing, powertrain, or complex engineered products.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, including experience with strategic suppliers, commercial agreements, cost reduction initiatives, and executive-level escalations.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel capability, spend analysis, cost modeling, benchmarking, and business case development.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, including the ability to develop executive-ready presentations; Think-Cell experience preferred.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, Aftersales, and senior leadership.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple business units, regions, or brands; global procurement experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to align stakeholders and drive decisions in a complex environment.
  • Results-oriented mindset with ownership, urgency, and a focus on continuous improvement.
