Job DetailsJob Location: Lititz, PA 17543Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00 HourlyFulltime, 10-days per pay, Monday through Friday, 11AM to 7PM, every other weekend/holiday  The PM Culinary Cook. This role plays a critical part in shaping residents’ daily experience, as the morning meal often sets the tone for their comfort, nutrition, and well‑being. The AM Cook ensures that every resident begins their day with high‑quality, thoughtfully prepared food delivered with consistency, warmth, and respect.  As one of the first team members in the kitchen each day, the AM Cook is responsible for establishing an efficient and positive morning workflow. Their commitment to reliability, food safety, and culinary excellence directly impacts resident satisfaction and supports our mission of enhancing quality of life for every individual we serve. This position requires someone who is not only skilled in food preparation but deeply dependable, resident‑focused, and dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive dining environment. The AM Cook works closely with dietary staff, caregivers, and nursing teams to ensure meals meet dietary guidelines, texture modifications, and any physician‑ordered restrictions.  Key Responsibilities Serve as the cornerstone of morning kitchen operations, ensuring timely, well‑organized breakfast and prep for the day Prepare high‑quality, appealing meals that meet resident dietary needs, preferences, and texture requirements Demonstrate unwavering consistency in flavor, portioning, and presentation Communicate with nursing and dietary teams regarding special diets, allergies, and individualized meal needs Maintain a clean, sanitized, and compliant workspace to support resident health and safety Support a warm, respectful, resident-centered dining culture Ensure proper kitchen setup and efficient handoff for the next shift Core Strengths & Expectations Dependable, timely, and steady—a trusted presence the team can rely on Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles Compassionate and respectful approach to serving older adults Ability to multitask while maintaining quality and calm during busy periods Works collaboratively with a team that values dignity, independence, and excellent service Why United Zion Retirement Community? United Zion is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our culinary team to provide exceptional care for our properties.   Qualifications 1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 2. Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation-, Serve-Safe-, HAACP standards, and infection control. 4. Understand and assist in the delivery of special diets ordered by the physician. 5.Basic computer skills, customer service, and familiarity with therapeutic diets. 6. The following experience is preferred.  2 – 3 years’ experience in institutional food production  2 years’ experience in institutional cooking  1 year experience in supervising people Preferred Qualifications ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality dining environments Ability to follow physician‑ordered dietary modifications
