Oversees administrative functions. Assists with the preparation and maintenance of all section budgets (e.g., annual, grants, contracts). Hires, trains, coordinates and supervises administrative staff. Maintains contract billings, equipment purchases, and contract payments. Works in collaboration with the hospital leaders of surgery services to include: orthopedics, plastics, general, trauma, burn, urology, dermatology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, cardiovascular surgery, and other procedural related services.

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED or equivalent

Recommended Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.

Required Work Experience:

High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership role. In lieu of a High School Diploma/GED, 7 years of experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role.

Description

1. Assists surgical service chiefs and all faculties with budget related issues during the fiscal year and prepares for the next fiscal year.

2. Maintains a working knowledge of all active service accounts, oversight of all expenses related to administrative functions of service, educational funds, research funds, discretionary funds.

3. Processes and manages all regular and purchase requests/orders, follows-up on any outstanding invoices or balances.

4. Provides administrative support and coordination services.
5. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and coordinating other administrative staff within the section including work assignments.

6. Serves as a liaison for the Surgical Service Section with all UAMS and AC departments in addition to daily communications with internal/external physician's offices and vendors.

7. Assists with faculty and fellow recruitment activities as well as coordinates residency rotations and fellowship training programs in coordination with the GME programs at UAMS.
