We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer who is passionate about building and pushing the boundaries of software to operate spacecrafts. Our software is a web-based application modern (React/TypeScript, C# .NET) with a microservice infrastructure (docker, Kafka, REST) that operators use to monitor and control constellations of spacecrafts across several active missionsYou’ll be responsible for working with engineers, operators, and customers to understand requirements and implement features, bug fixes, and other improvements, including helping to solvcomplex problems like collision avoidance, operation center failover, automated cross-satellite network maintenance, and supporting multi-vehicle mission activities. You will have the unique experience of integrating your work with advanced simulation software and even seeing it in operation in York’s Mission Operation Centers. Prior space-industry experience is not required. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop key user-facing features to support both current and future missions using Typescript React, C#, MSSQL, Influx, Kafkaand Python
  • Translate designs and requirements into high quality code
  • Build reusable components, design systems, and front-end libraries/packages for future use
  • Develop internal & public APIs
  • Engineer algorithms and business logic to promote scalability and automation
  • Write unit tests and documentation for internal users and customers
  • Collaborate with peers from multiple departments and disciplines
  • Participate in SCRUM ceremonies and code reviews
  • Contribute towards technical design and breakdown
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications  

  • College graduate -3 years of software engineering
  • Strong full-stack web engineering experience
  • Experience with strongly typed backend languages, such as C#
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Understanding of modern React and its core principles
  • Experience with common front-end development tools, such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Experience with Git
  • Thorough knowledge of APIs and multithreading
  • Experience with SQL Databases
  • Eagerness to continue to learn and improve
  • Desire to mentor and participate in the growth of peers
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to proactively seek information & guidance when encountering vague or confusing requirements 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Computer science degree, or similar software-focused education
  • React using TypeScript
  • Experience with modern state management tools such as Recoil.js, React Query, Mobx, etc.
  • Experience with modern security practices
  • Ability to obtain and hold a security clearance.
