SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the OB Manager / Educator, the Obstetrics RN assumes responsibility for a patient assignment on the Obstetrics Unit. The RN utilizes and acquires knowledge of current and best practices in patient care. The RN retains the responsibility for the direction and guidance of ancillary personnel within the unit. The RN works to support the five pillars of excellence: people, quality, service, finance and growth.聽

The RN understands and adheres to all LRH and department specific policies and procedures as well as to practice standards set forth in the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act. This position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Littleton Regional Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment to quality service to patients, the public, coworkers and physicians.聽

Essential Functions聽

路 Employs written policies and procedures according to the LRH Nursing Department聽

路 Provides complete and accurate charting of care and interventions, provided to facilitate high quality of care across the patient continuum聽

路 Provides education to patients and their families聽

路 Works to include the patient and family in plan of care for the patient聽

路 Works as a team with other members of the Obstetrics Unit to ensure that patient supplies are charged for in a timely manner聽

路 Exhibits excellent customer service to both external and internal customers聽

路 Works consistently to improve the customer experience聽

路 Participates in orientation of new personnel聽

路 Floats and/or is cross trained to work in other areas of the Nursing Division聽

路 Recognizes educational needs and facilities own professional growth聽

路 Participates in in-house education programs聽

路 Promotes patient safety聽

路 Performs independently and functions in a professional manner聽

路 Completes assigned applicable competencies in a timely manner聽

路 Able to manage multiple priorities聽

路 Attends unit staff meetings聽

路 Participates in annual performance appraisal of self with Nurse Manager in a timely manner


REPORTS TO: OB Manager / Educator


SUPERVISES: A Registered Nurse directs by licensure, all nursing activities performed by ancillary staff assigned to the unit. Numbers supervised varies according to patient census and acuity.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience/Specialized Skills: 路2 years previous OB experience preferred. 1-2 years previous clinical experience in acute care setting 路 BLS certification 路 NRP certification 路 STABLE certification 路 ACLS certification 路 Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) education bi-annually 路 PEOP or PCEP every 3 years 路 MOAB Certification (within 6 months of hire) Required Education/Course(s)/Training: 路 Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire 路 Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 路 Bachelor of Science preferred Preferred Certification/Registration: 路 National certification strongly encouraged

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent multi-tasking and prioritization of multiple patient needs is ongoing. Exposed to all patient elements; including exposure to human waste, blood and bodily fluid as well as hazardous substances is unavoidable.


Night Shift: Three 12-hour shifts/week, including weekend & holiday rotation
