POSITION SUMMARY:Â
Responsible for maintaining the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and journals and closing the general ledger on a monthly.  Provides assistance to the department Director  preparing the monthly financial statements.
 RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently coordinates the monthly close of the general ledger in an accurate and timely manner
- Reconciles all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepares for the annual Medicare cost reports by working with hospital managers to obtain required information.
- Prepares Medicare cost report and contractual/bad debt estimates for the current, year working with the hospital’s consulting and management firm.
- Works with outside auditors in the completion of the annual financial audit and Medicare cost report audit
- Provides internal monthly financial statements to external auditors.
- Works closely with managers and directors on accounting issues, providing support and education as necessary.
- Prepares the monthly Capital Budget actual to budget comparison.
- Assists with Disproportionate Share Hospital reporting and audits.
- Acts as a resource to Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounting Assistant.
 QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
- 3-5 years related experience required.
- Alternate education and experience may be considered.
- Healthcare experience preferred;
- Must be proficient in the use of Excel and accounting and finance software programs.
