Purchasing Supervisor



SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


The Purchasing Supervisor oversees the procurement, receipt and distribution of the organization’s supplies, inventory and services. The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for training and coaching the materials staff members, and facilitating operational improvements as needed. The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for placing special orders for non-stock items. This person serves as a key contact for training staff members regarding the ERP system and inventory functions across the organization.


  • Supervises the daily workflow and schedules of the department, coordinating staff involved in purchasing, selling, and distributing equipment, supplies, inventory and services.
  • Drafts and/or reviews supply and service specifications.
  • Research and process special order requests from different departments.
  • Gathers, records, and completes purchase data.
  • Exercise excellent communication skills.
  • Completes other projects as assigned.



REPORTS TO: Director of Materials Management 


SUPERVISES: Materials Staff


 

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

 

  • Materials Management Staff
  • Hospital staff all levels,
  • Department heads
  • Sales Representatives and Vendor Customer Service Channels


 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education

Associates degree or higher in business or a related field preferred


Experience/Specialized Skills:

2-4 years of Hospital/Healthcare supply purchasing required.

Inventory systems and ERP experience preferred.

1-3 years Supervisory experience preferred.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Sitting at desk and working on computer 80% of the workday. Working with staff, verifying physical inventory and assisting hospital employees 20%


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Clean, pleasant hospital environment. Occasionally subjected to stressful work demands and time constraints.
