The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in evaluating clients’ muscle strength and range of motion, provide therapy to relieve pain, heal injuries, improve circulation and aid in the general wellness of clients.  The incumbent will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.    THE YMCA AS THE THIRD PLACE To be the welcoming and transformative place - beyond work and home - where people feel most able to be their true selves; explore their purpose, dreams and goals; achieve health and wellness for their spirit, mind and body; connect with their community and feel a sense of belonging and possibilities like nowhere else.      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Evaluate clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, range of motion Consult with clients about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful Attend and remain current on all mandatory training and staff meetings Accurately maintain records and ensure proper tracking of client information Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members and guests in our facility Hold a current massage therapists’ certification Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands described here are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions  Regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.    Frequently required to sit, reach and must be able to move around the work environment   Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and focus   Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate  Qualifications & Benefits QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education 1 – 3 years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency Hold current Massage Therapists Certification  1 year experience as a Professional Massage therapist, providing exercise assessments and conducting personal or small group training sessions Knowledge of reflexology, Swedish, prenatal, hot stone, trigger point, sports, and deep tissue Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills Possess a positive and professional attitude Current CPR/AED/02 and First Aid certification     BENEFITS Free individual membership  Program discounts Generous Retirement Contribution Options -Includes company contribution of 10% once eligibility is met Employee Assistance Program Accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked Paid Time off for those scheduled and working 20+ per week
