About The Role

The Medical Assistant Full Time role is an integral part of our Medical Assistant department, providing direct support to providers and compassionate care to patients in a fast-paced clinical setting. In this hourly, full-time position, you will perform a blend of clinical and administrative duties to ensure that patient visits are efficient, safe, and professional. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to assist with examinations, procedures, and documentation, while helping maintain an organized and patient-centered environment.


What You'll Do

  • Prepare patients for examinations by verifying identity, obtaining and documenting vital signs, height, weight, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures while adhering to clinical protocols and infection control standards
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection and handling, in accordance with training and regulations
  • Accurately document patient information, medications, allergies, and services provided in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Schedule patient appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and assist with prior authorizations and referrals as directed
  • Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and prepared with necessary supplies and equipment
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by providers, reinforcing treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care
  • Handle patient phone calls and messages, relaying information to providers and responding to patient inquiries within defined guidelines
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards, including proper handling of biohazard materials and sharps disposal
  • Support front-desk and administrative workflows as needed, including check-in, check-out, and collection of co-pays or required documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and clinic operations


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe per employer policy
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a clinical healthcare setting preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications (e.g., email, scheduling, data entry)
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, vital signs, and standard clinical procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and all relevant regulations
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift or move patients and equipment as required for clinical duties
