Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This role involves working closely with students, families, educators, and community resources to develop and implement interventions that promote student success. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of the Special Education, Mental Health, and Student Support Teams, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in Special Education, Mental Health, and Student Support Teams, contributing expertise and support.
- Provide consultation and intervention strategies to general education staff, assisting with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and pre-referral processes.
- Conduct student assessments and interviews to identify needs and develop appropriate support plans.
- Develop and maintain case records, IEPs, FBAs, and BIPs, ensuring documentation is accurate and timely.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students and parents on social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Develop, implement, and review student service plans, monitoring progress and adjusting interventions as needed.
- Respond to referrals and concerns from school staff, parents, and community agencies.
- Offer assistance and referrals for mental health, financial hardship, substance abuse, rehabilitation, child welfare, and other social services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports related to student progress and interventions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Colorado Special Service Provider License for School Social Worker
- Master of Social Work (MSW) (or ability to obtain), including coursework in school and special education law
- Completion of practicum with experience working with school-aged children
- ASWB Clinical, PLACE, or PRAXIS School Social Worker exam OR Colorado LCSW issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success
- Experience in case management, counseling, and crisis intervention
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Mac/PC, and student documentation systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a K-12 school setting
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, mental health interventions, and special education compliance
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of 5 to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand or walk for 90 minutes.
- Ability to run short distances.
- Frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, reaching, and sitting.
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- School Year: 2026 - 2027
- This position will be open until filled, but will not be open past: May 31, 2026.
