POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Supervisory experience and four years’ experience working with people with disabilities or other related field. (Experience and Education combination.)  Good physical and mental health.  Valid Florida driver's license. Good driving record.   Good people skills. Completion of an approved first aide/CPR and Medication course.  Successful completion of required background checks.   Must have experience working in residential home.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsible for assisting Director of Residential Services with service provision at all residential facilities. Provides supervision and training for residential shift staff.   Ensures quality service and proper supervision is provided for people with disabilities in a residential setting.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

 

1.         Creates a congenial and home like atmosphere within the community residence.

2.         Promotes a maximum independence of each resident.

3.         Facilitates opportunities for residents to be involved in community activities such as shopping, leisure, and religious activities.

4.         Supervises and prepares nutritious meals, to include ensuring up to date menus are approved and in place for staff to utilize.

5.         Monitors the home to ensure all medications have been administered correctly, money is accounted for and all rules and regulations are followed as outlined in 65G-2

6.         Ensure that all residents’ property is inventoried at least two times per year. With all electronic items having a picture and serial number for reporting of stolen merchandise.

7.         Ensure all vehicles assigned to the group homes are cleaned every week and ensure all rules in procedures are followed.

8.         Be prepared for annual licensing and monthly monitoring by The Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

9.          Be prepared for monitoring by Qlarant.

10.       Assist each resident in developing attitudes and behaviors appropriate to community living.

11.       Be supportive of and encourages each resident’s participation in the day training or program prescribed.

12.       Protects each resident's rights and freedoms and maintains confidentiality of personal information   

            concerning the consumer, in accordance with the Bill of Rights of Individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Persons.

13.       Reports any unusual incidents to the Director of Residential Services immediately.

14.       Reports suspected abuse and neglect.

15.       Maintains facility and consumer records.  Maintain program documentation.  Ensures accuracy.  Submits for billing in required time frame. Ensures all information is input in Kibu Software daily.

16.       Ensure accuracy of employee teletimer for payroll daily and approve bi-weekly for all assigned staff.

17.       Ensure weekly schedules are posted and reflect the appropriate hours required for Residential Habilitation. The required number of staff hours must be fulfilled by the manager.             

18.       Provides for proper storage, and handling of drugs and medicines. Orders medications as needed. Assists the resident by making medications available and reminding the

            client to take them at the appropriate times.

19.       Schedule and assists in transportation for residents to and from day services, place of employment, personal appointments (medical and dental) and for recreational and other events.

20.       Encourages appropriate family involvement and visitation.

21.       Assists residents in handling money and making and keeping appointments when indicated.

22.       Ensures opportunity for resident privacy.

23.       Participates in monthly fire evacuation drills and all disaster drills with proper documentation of same.

24.       Maintains a safe environment.

25.       Avoids the exploitation of any resident.

26.       Supervises and participates in routine household maintenance.  Ensures cleanliness of home.

27.       Assists in the on-going assessment of resident's progress.

28.       Provide physical assistance to consumers as needed.

29.       Performs other duties as assigned.
