The Vineyards Healthcare Center is a skilled nursing facility located at 76 Fenton Street, Livermore, California. Position Overview:

The Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance Director in maintaining the community in good repair at all times, including both the interior and exterior surfaces, fixtures and mechanical systems.  

  • Maintain all interior fixtures in good repair including walls, woodwork, handrails, nurse call systems, light fixtures, furniture, etc., in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintain plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems according to established procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and county, state, and federal laws and regulations, as applicable.
  • Troubleshoot failures in plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning or appropriate ventilation systems and obtain the services of appropriate licensed service firms, under direction from the Maintenance Director
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests
  • Keep the exterior of the building in good repair, including:
  • Maintain workshop and mechanical room in a neat and clean condition and free from hazards.  Ensure that paints and other flammable materials are properly stored.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in a skilled nursing facility or related healthcare setting required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and facility-related issues
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and infection control practices
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with staff and residents
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, bend, and perform routine maintenance tasks
