In this position, the Intern will work with FormFactor’s R&D Team to support the mechanical design and characterization of probe card components for wafer sort applications. The intern will apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to perform mechanical design analysis, conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, support failure analysis, and develop technical reports for internal knowledge sharing and training purposes. This role provides hands‑on exposure to precision hardware, automation tools, process optimization, and state‑of‑the‑art probe card and wafer sort equipment within a fast‑paced product development environment.
Projects Will Include:
Perform mechanical design analysis of probe card components and assemblies.
Create and update mechanical drawings and CAD models.
Conduct design characterization experiments and collect test data.
Analyze results and correlate experimental data with design intent.
Support failure analysis and root‑cause investigations.
Write technical reports, summaries, and training documentation.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum of three years toward a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Strong mechanical design skills.
Experience using SolidWorks.
FEA experience preferred.
Prior drafting experience and working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance methods.
Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail.
Hands‑on mechanical lab experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced engineering environment.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

$25.80 - $33.86Pay Range Explained:
This role in Livermore, California pays between $25.80 and $33.86 per hour, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off.
