Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

BUSINESS ANALYST 

POSITION OBJECTIVE 

The Management Center's Accounting and Personnel Analysis team is seeking a Business Analyst to support the continued evolution of our enterprise applications and business processes. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the organization's Human Resources and Payroll management systems, with occasional support for ERP Accounting systems as business needs require. Working closely with Human Resources, Payroll and Accounting stakeholders, you will gather and document business requirements, analyze business processes, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, system usability, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Areas of focus include employee lifecycle management, payroll processing, organizational structure, time clock and attendance, benefits administration, and related HR business processes.

As a key liaison between business users and technical teams, you will translate business needs into scalable system solutions by collaborating with end users, System Analysts, and developers throughout the software development lifecycle. You will support application modernization initiatives, including the migration of legacy AS/400 systems to .NET and SQL Server platforms, by documenting requirements, improving business workflows, coordinating testing and user acceptance, and helping ensure the successful implementation and adoption of new system capabilities.


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Review/propose individual goals and milestones for the assigned departmental annual goals

2. Drive departmental initiatives to achieve annual business objectives and monitor progress against established milestones

3. Develop/revise corporate procedures and related system SOPs to standardize business operations and/or meet regulatory requirements

4. Perform research/benchmark study and make necessary procedural/system recommendations to improve business process and ensure company competitiveness

5. Analyze assigned work requisitions and communicate with end users and system analysts to propose improvement/development specifications within assigned timeframe

6. Perform and complete business analysis assignments from management for decision making support as requested

7. Serve as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure business requirements are effectively translated into technology solutions

8. Follow up and analyze system-generated abnormal reports to enhance control mechanism and help streamline business processes

9. Assist Internal Audit to propose/revise audit checklist and provide necessary opinions on related audit findings to ensure business/operations are in line with corporate policies and procedures

10. Support successful user adoption of new systems through training by following Company’s Train the Trainer Program and knowledge transfer

11. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management team

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Related Experience -

Required: HR/ Business Administration/Accounting related work experience required.

Preferred: Chemical/plastics industry experience preferred.

Education -

Required: 4-year college degree required. 

Preferred:  Human Resource Manager/Business Administration/Psychology/Communications/International Relations/Accounting/MIS/Data Analysis related majors and/or advanced degree preferred

Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job -

Required:

MS Office software skills 

Excellent oral/written communication skills 

Computer literacy and proficiency in documentation skills

Business rules and user requirements gathering

Business and system process mapping

System QA/QC Testing

Data analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL

Preferred:

Experience in AS/400 menu admin and query 

Knowledge and experience in Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Amazon Redshift, etc. 

Experience in SAP, ADP, Dayforce, Workday, etc.
