TITLE: Regional Sales Manager

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the management of Grocery/Retail sales and marketing activities for a select customer base to achieve required growth and meet sales objectives.  Responsibilities include selling to customers, potentially directing brokers, strategic planning, and annual budgeting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five or more years of sales and business development experience with a proven track record of positive customer relationships and sales growth
  • Other experience in business management and marketing is a plus.
  • Preferred prior experience within the plastics and/or paper industry, including bags, films, sheeting & retail supplies, etc. 
  • College or university degree in business or related fields
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel/drive with a valid driver’s license

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct sales activities with existing customers and prospect accounts to maintain relationships and increase sales
  • Actively develop prospects and targets, prioritize opportunities and develop strategic supply proposals to gain incremental business
  • Become proficient with the Grocery/Retail product bundle through training and self-learning
  • Collect market intelligence and customer decision criteria to recommend effective sales proposals
  • Skillfully present compelling supply package presentations resulting in awarded business
  • Develop annual sales budget & strategy and execute the plan accordingly
  • Review sales progress regularly against goals and re-align efforts to ensure targets are being successfully achieved
  • Interact and coordinate with other functional departments in order to provide customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate with marketing personnel to develop sales promotion plans for target products
  • Selectively attend sales trade and/or vendor shows to promote products and develop business opportunities
  • Potentially coordinate the hiring and training of Brokers
  • Handle special projects assigned by the business unit

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • This position involves up to 50% travel, with a willingness to travel throughout the United States attending meetings with customers/prospects and sales functions such as trade shows, etc.
