Founded in 1978, Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. (Formosa Plastics) is a growing, vertically-integrated supplier of plastic resins and petrochemicals. Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR II
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Lead the design, operation, and database administration, and improvement of hybrid infrastructure environments, including Azure and on-premises systems.
Ensure performance, reliability, and compliance of core IT services.
Provide technical leadership in system architecture, automation, and disaster recovery implementation.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Cloud Architecture and Optimization: Design, implement, and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure.
- SQL Database Administration: Design, maintain, and optimize SQL Server and Azure SQL databases, ensuring availability, performance, and security.
- System Administration: Manage Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and core infrastructure components.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts or automation pipelines for deployment and monitoring.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design and manage backup and DR strategies using Azure Site Recovery, Veeam, or similar solutions.
- Security and Compliance: Enforce system hardening, patch management, and access control in alignment with IT security standards.
- Performance and Monitoring: Oversee system monitoring tools, analyze trends, and recommend proactive improvements.
- Project Leadership: Lead IT infrastructure and cloud migration projects, ensuring smooth integration and minimal downtime.
- Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to junior administrators.
- Vendor and Contract Management: Coordinate with vendors and manage technical support contracts.
- Other Duties: Execute advanced technical assignments and strategic IT initiatives as directed by management.
TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system or cloud administration, including at least 2 years with Azure environments.

- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure administration and hybrid environment integration.
- Proficiency in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and T-SQL scripting.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation development.
- Solid understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and high availability configurations.
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V) and network fundamentals.
- Experience with system security, patch management, and compliance processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science or MIS preferred); advanced degree a plus.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) required;
Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) or SQL Database Administrator certification (e.g., DP-300) preferred.
